On lucky friday 13th January 2006, Student Windsurfers from around the country descended on London for the Boat Show/ PWA Indoor Windsurfing 2006 and the first SWA Party of the New Year.

Imperial College Windsurf Club hosted the first official SWA party ever held in London with their 'Sittin' on The Dock of The Bay' themed night. This somehow got slightly confused with the Medical School Union's 'School Disco', which meant that everyone, from sailor to schoolgirl, was there. Mix in some very cheap union alcohol (The SWA does not support excessive alcohol use of course...) and the evening went swimmingly. Fear not, there were a couple of lifeguards on hand just in case!

For once there was no 8am start and usual rush to a freezing lake, only to discover that there was no wind anyway. A lay in and fat fry up in the morning made sure most people were refreshed enough to head down to ExCel in the London Docklands for a quite reasonable midday start. There we were greeted by flat water and a fantastic, if not slightly gusty, 30knts of wind. The best thing of all?... It was indoors! The PWA sailors were fired up and ready to please us with a fast moving, highflying action packed afternoon of competition.

The level of windsurfing was phenomenal! England's very own Nik Baker produced a master class in indoor slalom whilst the South American boys showed us how it was done on the jump ramp. Kauli's sick Air Chacho and Ricardo's double forward attempt were definitely not to be missed. The French boys were on fire in the freestyle and the girls were showing us that they can mix it up as well as the boys.

The SWA also managed to raise some money for Surfers Against Sewage and all the Pros showed they're support by signing a limited edition 'SWA Aussie Kiss 4' t-shirt, which will be raffled at the BUSA nationals 17th-19th March (thanks guys!) All the proceeds will go to SAS.

To get your hands on the t-shirt signed by all the pros make sure you get yourself entered for the BUSA nationals. The deadline for entry is 16th Feb so talk to your president.
