"The SWA is a not for profit company, set up to promote, coordinate and advance student windsurfing in the UK"
The Student Windsurfing Association is run day to day by the president and a committee, all enthusiastic and hard-working volunteers. The President reports to the Company Directors who ensure that the SWA core aims are complied with. The simple aim of the SWA is to develop the sport of windsurfing and provide cheap access to tuition, kit and events in a fun, social way for all students. The SWA is the fastest-growing association in the UK windsurfing community, attracting the largest number of participants to events around the country throughout the academic season. The SWA series features around 8 events per year for both competitive and social participants with attendees ranging from at least 100 to 900+ at each event. It has the support of the following bodies:
- Royal Yachting Association - RYA
- British Universities & Colleges Sport - BUCS
- United Kingdom Windsurfing Association - UKWA
Additional to events for current students, the SWA also organises competitions, events and holidays for ex-student windsurfers.
The promotion of all these events are run via web and email-based connections with over 50 universities. The SWA festival is usually oversubscribed on the day of ticket release, and with membership numbers increasing every year we are confident that a successful and competitive year is ahead of us.
The only question left to be asked: why? For the answer, we invite you to take a look through our website and imagine the atmosphere created when a group of hundreds of like-minded people from all over the country get together to learn, compete and socialise ...
