Get the girls on boards!

20th-22nd October 2006

350 students windsurfing, 150 quid raised for Surfers Against Sewage, 144 complete beginners, 80 instructors and helpers, 9 windsurfing companies, 5 fab sponsors, 1 holiday park, 1 RYA and 1 South West lake...were you at Aussie Kiss 4?

Following on from the rip-roaring success of last year's event, initial details can now be exclusively released about the SWA festival '06. Once more we shall be gracing Roadford lake with our presence, and bedding down at Bude Holiday Park. Last year's sensational band I.D.Ology obviously saw something they liked in our fancy dress enhanced moshing and yes ladies and gentlemen, we are trying to get them back for more. Stick this date in your diaries or tattoo it somewhere because believe us, you won't want to let yourself down by forgetting it: Aussie Kiss 5, 20-22 October 2006.

Welcoming a host of beginners into the sport, the ongoing series of Aussie Kiss events is designed to get people who've never even contemplated standing on a board before absolutely hooked. However, this year we also have an ulterior motive: alongside our dedication to beginners, we are going to redress the balance of the sexes in British windsurfing.

The SWA is really proud to have an almost equal ratio of women to men - and in celebration of this we would like to announce this as The Year of the Women! It will be a year of encouraging the lovely ladies who might be shy about competing, providing a network of support for those that do and rejoicing in the efforts made by everyone everywhere. It is time that those who can, do. Further details will be announced, however rumour has it that female entrants will have more than most to shout about this October. Girls, you know this sounds good. And let's be honest boys, having some confident female kickass windsurfers around cant be that bad for you either.

In groundbreaking fashion for a windsurfing event of this size, the SWA will also be continuing in its quest for a greener future by ensuring that the event is carbon neutral. For more info please see www.climatecare.org

Watch out for more information about AK5, details will be revealed as and when they are available.
