Spring is coming, temperatures are rising to dizzying levels and the stage is set for the world famous climax to the SWA year: BUCS National Championships 2015; Olympics!

Nations and universities across the four corners of the world unite to chase the ultimate dream of all serious athletes, a BUCS medal and points for your club and university! There will of course be a fancy dress party fit for the gods of ancient Greece where the first Olympics was held. Now in 2015 those same virtues of dedication, athleticism and excessive alcohol consumption pioneered by the ancient greeks live on in the Student Windsurfing Association.

The venue is set in the shadow of Mount Olympus (nowadays known as Portland Bill) at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. The date is 24th-26th April, come and join the SWA for this celebration of everything great about windsurfing!

Bring your tents/vans/yurts/igloos to camp in the luxurious SWA athletes’ village to be erected at Northdown Farm, Osmington, Weymouth, Dorset DT3 6ED. Once your accommodation is constructed then head to the Friday night welcome party!

Saturday will see competition for the hallowed BUCS medals and final points for the SWA series. Saturday night will be the Olympics themed fancy dress party. Get shotgunning themes! Food will be provided on Saturday night!

Break out your fancy dress, polish your raceboards and we’ll see you there!

This weekend saw the second round of the SWA Puravida Wave Series, Bangor Rhos Ness Monster II. After making the epic journey to North Wales the day before, the SWA proceeded to explore Bangor’s finest evening establishments.

Whilst a few keen windsurfers got out on Saturday, conditions weren’t suitable for the contest, and everyone met at Funsport for a set of clinics run by head judge Farrel O’Shea, Jim Brooks Dowsett and Ben Page. Sailors were given tips on how to compete and impress the judges as well as a look at some latest kit courtesy of O’Shea and Simmer Style. There was also a chance to demo the kit, which is always a great opportunity for everyone from experienced to entry-level wave sailors.

Throughout the Kingdom, tales are told of a land far north, a city of fantasy and legend. Tales of

strong wind and stronger parties, which have oft been forgot in the mists of time and alcohol. Each

year, a pilgrimage is made by those of legendary status to the mystical land. Those people are you,

student windsurfers of the UK, the city is Liverpool, and the date is the 7th-9th of November.
