We’re back baby, and what a weekend! After an agonising seven months, the SWA season made a triumphant return at Grafham waters with AK21.
Friday evening bought friends together once more with Soton winning the coveted award for first to arrive. Soon after, others pitched up camp on the hallowed Cambridgeshire grounds. Bevs flowed in abundance after long drives to the res, and new friendships formed while others happily embraced after the long summer.
Calling all windsurfers new and old, it’s that time of year again - AUSSIE KISS! Get ready for a weekend at Grafham Water, in the (hopefully) sunny East of England, full of windsurfing!
This year, we're going bigger than ever, COVID is hopefully over and pray to the windsurf gods that Monkeypox doesn't strike us down with another pandemic. We'll be putting on our usual windsurf classes with lessons and workshops ranging from beginners to advanced, there's no better time to start the year and it is truly the best time to get out on the water.
The second weekend of March marked Edinburgh University Windsurf and Surf Club's debut into host
Despite the long journey, our windsurfers arrived in Edinburgh in time to refuel with a tinny before heading to the first attraction of the weekend - 32 Below. Once everyone was gathered and had showcased their questionable beer pong skills it was time to move onto the next bar… in classic windsurfing fashion plan A didn't work, neither did plan B. After an impromptu tour of Cowgate we settled for a night deep in the vaults of Hive. Dancing and drinking aplenty completed, we headed home for some much-needed sleep.ing an SWA wave event. Windsurfers travelled far and wide to experience Scottish wind, waves and natural beauty.
And just like that, the season ended. It feels like yesterday we were pitching tents in a field in Cambridgeshire and now the series has drawn to a close.
A new year, a new event. The weekend in Southampton saw some highs (for windsurfing) and some lows (if you’re an England or Wales rugby supporter). The new year ushered in a brand new event with Southampton triumphantly hosting the first ever Sot'on My Face core event.
170 keen windsurfs eager for a taste of something new made their way from the across the country to their home for the weekend in Southampton. With belongings stowed away in host house and predrinks begun it wasn’t long before we got a taste for what Southampton had to offer. On Friday night we headed out to SOBAR where the SWA’s favourite DJs, Leo Calnan and Hugo Taylor, provided the perfect tunes to get everyone in the mood for the weekend. Drinks flowed (especially as they were so cheap) and people danced the night away.
